Who can see it
This module is closed unless your workspace opens it. Opening it is not a navigation change, it is publishing the company's compensation ranges, so it stays shut until somebody decides otherwise.
The summary
Four figures: the annual cost, how many people are on the register, how many are paid outside their band, and how many have no pay recorded at all.
Where there is no record, the screen says there is no record. A person with no salary entered shows as unrecorded rather than as a plausible figure, because a plausible figure is the one thing worse than a blank on a pay screen.
Register
Everybody, with what they are paid, which band they sit in, and where in that band they sit. Somebody paid below or above their band is flagged.
Bands
The pay ranges themselves: a name, a minimum and a maximum, and the level each band belongs to. Adding and editing bands is what makes the register meaningful, because a person cannot be outside a band that does not exist.
Equity
Checks the screen can prove, rather than findings somebody typed.
Band breaches. How many records were checked, and how many of them are paid outside their band.
Same role, same level. The widest gap between people with the same job title at the same level. That is the comparison people actually make, and the one that is defensible without a job evaluation exercise.
How it connects
- The register is the people in Admin, with their levels and titles.
- Annual salary cost appears in Finance.
Common questions
Does Rople run payroll? No. It holds what each person is paid and checks whether that is consistent. Transferring money happens elsewhere.
Why is somebody flagged as above their band? Because their recorded pay is above the band's maximum for their level. That can be deliberate, and the flag is a prompt to record why rather than an error.
Can a manager see their team's pay? Only if the workspace has opened the module to them. It is closed by default for everybody.
